Occupational Therapy Project

The Industrial Design / Occupational Therapy project was a collaborative partnership between the ID and OT departments of Thomas Jefferson University. OT and ID students were paired up to design an assistive medical device. Each OT student had a patient they were working with, so they were the expert on the patients situation. We met frequently to determine the patients needs and how it could be improved. In our case, the patient was an elderly woman with a chronic lower back injury who wanted to be able to cook and bake without having to lean over the kitchen table, a position which caused her pain.
